Anthropic’s Dario Amodei met with Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent at the White House yesterday to discuss advanced AI and assess national security risks posed by the company’s Mythos model.
The system, built by Anthropic, can detect hidden flaws in software, help developers fix bugs, but also potentially enable cyberattacks. While this could strengthen cybersecurity defenses by finding vulnerabilities faster than hackers, officials warn it may also be misused to exploit critical systems.
The discussion comes amid ongoing tensions with the AI company, which the Pentagon previously labeled a “supply chain risk,” prompting Amodei to sue the Pentagon.
Despite earlier friction, most agencies now favor limited collaboration to gain access to Mythos, signaling a potential policy shift.
The meeting was described as “productive” by both the White House and Anthropic.
President Trump appeared unaware of the meeting, saying he had “no idea” about Amodei’s visit.
