China’s BYD sees first delivery dip of 2025

China’s largest EV maker, BYD, posted its first monthly delivery decline this year, shipping 341,030 vehicles in July—down from 377,628 in June.

The drop in deliveries raises doubts about hitting its yearly goal of 5.5 million sales. So far, BYD has sold 2.49 million vehicles, but now it needs to sell about 602,000 each month—far more than its best month ever.

Fierce price wars triggered the slowdown, even as competitors like Xiaomi, Xpeng, and Leapmotor saw growth.

Policymakers in Beijing have warned against excessive competition as discounts continue to reshape the EV landscape.
