After months of anticipation and controversy, Jaguar has finally revealed the production-ready Type 01, the first major product in its ambitious electric reinvention.
The luxury four-door GT keeps much of the bold styling first shown by the Type 00 concept, including its long hood, low roof and huge 23-inch wheels. Jaguar says the car produces up to 1,030 PS and 1,365 Nm of torque and reaches 62 mph in 3.2 seconds.
A 118-kWh battery could deliver up to 400 miles of EPA-rated range, giving it one of the longest ranges of any American EV. The 350-kW fast charging can add 200 miles in about 13 minutes.
Inside, the Type 01 features a dramatic central spine, large OLED displays, premium finishes, and advanced air purification.
Expected to cost $130,000+, Jaguar hopes the EV can attract younger luxury buyers and revive the brand. It would significantly undercut Bentley’s roughly $230,000 debut EV, which launched last month.
The Type 01 is Jaguar’s big bet. The company has phased out its gas-powered cars as it pursues an all-electric future. When the EV starts deliveries next year, the automaker says it wants to sell fewer vehicles to a wealthier customer base.
