Airbus is gearing up to deliver more planes this year, solidifying its position as the world’s largest plane maker, while its rival Boeing grapples with the aftermath of the 737 Max door plug blowout incident.

European aerospace giant Airbus aims to deliver approximately 800 jets in 2024, including the popular A320neo, amid a surge in demand for air travel following pandemic restrictions.

Last year, Airbus exceeded its delivery target by providing 735 planes.

Its shares were up 5% so far this year, while Boeing’s shares have tanked almost 20%.

Not just shares
Airbus projects producing 75 A320neo planes a month by 2026, while Boeing had a target of producing 57 aircraft in a month before the door plug fiasco.

Additionally, Airbus reported a record 2,094 commercial aircraft orders in 2023, contributing to its backlog of 8,598 aircraft.

Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said the liner is also developing a new and more fuel-efficient plane to replace the A320neo, slated for the mid-to-late 2030s.
