Around 3,200 Boeing workers in its Missouri and Illinois facilities went on strike on Monday, after rejecting a four-year labor agreement that included a 40% average wage growth.
The affected Boeing facilities produce fighter jets and other US defense aircraft.
The union, IAM District 837, said its members deserve better terms. Boeing expressed disappointment over the strike but said it’s implementing a contingency plan to maintain operations.
The workers’ strike comes as Boeing continues to face fallout from past aviation disasters.
However, the company recently cut its quarterly loss to $176 million, down sharply from $1.09 billion in the same quarter in 2024.
