The newly-appointed oversight board for the self-governing Disney district by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently discovered that the previous board signed all powers back to Walt Disney World.

The Reedy Creek Development District, which allowed Disney to expand autonomously over the past 50 years, signed its power back to Disney in February.

According to the agreement, the new board is barred from using Disney’s name and other trademarks. Any decision the board makes will need the Mickey Mouse founder’s approval. It is also valid till “21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, king of England.”

The agreement was made silently just 19 days before DeSantis signed a bill that would give him authority over the district Disney is located in.

Following Disney’s public opposition to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” education law, he signed a bill allowing him to set up a five-member board—composed of his allies—to oversee the municipal administration and land development around the Disney district.

The “Don’t Say Gay” law prohibits school lessons and teachings in Florida about sexual orientation and gender identity, till third grade.
