New business applications saw a steep climb as more than 5 million requests were filed in 2022—on average, 14,000 created daily—per data from the US Census Bureau released Tuesday.
From 2019 to 2022, new business applications grew by 44%—with the Southern states leading the count—which saw a 53% increase in that period.
Last year saw 5.1 million applications, which is lower than the record 5.4 million in 2021 but is still up from 3.5 million filed in 2019.
The figures tell us that the pandemic-era startup boom hasn't halted. But it is yet to be seen if the trend will continue in 2023.
