The first rebuilt home in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades since January’s deadly wildfire is now complete at 915 Kagawa Street.

Fierce wildfires destroyed thousands of structures, forced massive evacuations, cut power to over a million residents, and spread rapidly across Los Angeles due to extreme winds, drought conditions, and water shortages.

The nearly 4,000-square-foot house, built by developer Thomas James Homes, features quartz countertops, an open floor plan, a pool, and a fire-resistant design. The developer hosted an open house.

It is the first house in the Pacific Palisades to receive an occupancy certificate since the wildfires.

The property serves as a model home for the developer, who is planning up to 100 additional rebuilds in the area.

City officials say rebuilding permits are being approved nearly three times faster than usual.

Despite insurance hurdles and toxic soil removal, progress signals hope for the Palisades, with full community recovery expected in about three years.
