Florida is bracing for tropical storm Idalia, which forecasters predict will intensify into a Category 2 hurricane before making landfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Anticipating floods, Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 33 Florida counties on Saturday.

Just as the Idalia warnings were issued, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services alerted residents about fuel contamination in Citgo-supplied gas stations in the state.

Due to a “human error,” diesel and petrol shipments were switched and around 29 stations are believed to have the contaminated gasoline.

The contamination can damage car engines and leave people stranded as the storm approaches.
