VC giant Andreessen Horowitz predicts the UK will become a global crypto space leader|EthereumClassic|CC0 1.0

Leading crypto investor Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is expanding its global presence by opening its first international office in London with a focus on blockchain investments.

The London office will be led by Sriram Krishnan, one of the firm’s partners.

The firm—renowned for backing successful companies like Facebook, Airbnb and Coinbase—supports the United Kingdom’s approach to crypto regulations amid increasing scrutiny in the US.

A16z anticipates the UK will become a global crypto space leader.

The London office, scheduled to open later this year, will collaborate with UK universities and contribute to the development of blockchain technology and startups.

The decision comes at a time when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has intensified its regulatory oversight and filed lawsuits against Binance and Coinbase.

The London office will focus on investing in crypto and tech startups in the UK and Europe. The European Union known for its tech regulations has implemented a crypto framework, called Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA), to regulate the crypto market.

UK emerging as the crypto hub
London has emerged as one of the leading destinations for digital currencies, blockchain projects and startups. Despite Brexit uncertainty, the country has continued to attract significant investments in the technology sector and has positioned itself as a promising crypto hub within Europe and beyond.
