The Inflation Reduction Act’s new 15% minimum tax would likely impact 78 companies, with Berkshire Hathaway and Amazon feeling the maximum burden; they would pay the most, a study finds.

The University of North Carolina Tax Center conducted a study using past securities filings to map tax and finalized their results with the companies’ 2021 earnings.

The study found that the new minimum tax would require Berkshire to pay $8.33 billion, the highest of any other company, and Amazon to pay $2.77 billion. The 78 companies coming under the 15% minimum tax would payout a total of $31.8 billion.

The Biden-signed minimum tax law would mainly target companies earning more than $1 billion a year.
