Harvard finds President Claudine Gay’s ‘inadequate citations’ regrettable but not as constituting to research misconduct|Maura Healey|CC BY-NC-SA 2.0

Following allegations of plagiarism in her 1997 doctoral dissertation, Harvard University President Claudine Gay will submit revisions to it, apart from the ones made earlier in 2001 and 2017.

The Ivy League’s first Black President has been at the forefront of controversies since she assumed office this year. The allegations surrounding her academic integrity coincide with calls for her resignation after a congressional testimony on antisemitism this month.

The Harvard Corporation, the university’s governing board, found Gay’s “inadequate citations” as regrettable but not constituting research misconduct.

Harvard is divided on the matter, with critics arguing the board’s response raises questions about a potential double standard for students and the president.
