Energy generated from fossil fuels in European countries will plummet by 20% in 2023, according to a recent report from energy think tank Ember—indicating the EU's fast-moving shift to renewable energy.

European countries realized they needed alternative energy sources once Russia began cutting gas exports amid the Ukraine invasion.

Is this good?
In 2022 alone, around 22% of EUs electricity was generated through solar panels and wind turbines—2% higher than what gas generated.

The rise in renewable energy to generate electricity saved the EU around $10.89 billion in gas costs last year, says the report.
