It’s raining Big Tech movies in Hollywood. Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning hits theaters today, starring Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg.

The movie comes 16 years after The Social Network and centers around Facebook’s turbulent operations from 2019 to 2021, which were exposed by Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz with help from whistleblower Frances Haugen in the series titled “The Facebook Files.”

The WSJ’s investigation prompted congressional hearings for Zuckerberg, finding that the platform’s recommendations influenced 64% of Facebook users who joined extremist groups.

The film shows the Meta CEO rejecting safety measures that risked even a 1% drop in user engagement, while facing mounting pressure during congressional testimony in the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol riot.
