The Odyssey delivered Christopher Nolan’s biggest global opening ever, earning $264.1 million worldwide, including $124.5 million in the US and Canada.

The movie outperformed his 2023 hit Oppenheimer.

Universal invested heavily in the adaptation of Homer’s Greek epic, spending $250 million on production and $125 million on marketing.

The gamble paid off, a feat for a movie that has an A-list cast that includes Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and Tom Holland.

The film’s success comes during a strong summer for Hollywood, with domestic ticket sales running 10.4% ahead of 2025, according to Rentrak.
