The removal of PepsiCo products comes amid rising food costs in Europe|LTGC|CC BY-NC 2.0

France-based Carrefour, the world’s largest grocery chain with over 12,000 stores globally, is removing PepsiCo products from its aisles in France, Italy, Belgium and Spain—citing “unacceptable price increases.”

Other PepsiCo products affected include Lay’s, Doritos, Lipton teas, etc. The American corporation stated it has been in discussions with Carrefour for months and aims to ensure its products remain available.

Why?
The move is part of Carrefour’s commitment to lowering prices amid rising food costs in Europe. Food prices in France increased more than 7% year-over-year in December.

The retailer plans to expand its private label as it aims to represent 40% of food sales in 2026, up from 33% in 2022.
