The trademark dispute over “Taco Tuesday” between Taco Bell and Taco John’s has ended as the latter announced yesterday it would abandon its patent registration.

It didn’t make sense for Taco John’s to pay millions to defend the trademark, said the chain’s CEO Jim Creel.

Taco Bell had filed a petition in May seeking to cancel the trademark “Taco Tuesday” owned by Taco John’s and Gregory’s Restaurant & Bar (its parent company has held the trademark since 1979).
