Amazon is taking another step toward its everything app vision. The company announced yesterday that it will combine its Luna cloud gaming service with Prime Video to offer games to Fire TV users in the US and UK for free.
The integration gives Prime subscribers in both markets free access to video games, which can be played directly through the Prime Video app.
The Luna gaming platform was previously a standalone application that didn’t get much traction. With the integration, Prime Video becomes a unified hub for movies, TV shows, and video games.
A new Games tab will offer blockbuster third-party titles like Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as well as Amazon’s own titles such as Courtroom Chaos and Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite.
It also carries digital board games like Clue and Taboo, a strategic move similar to Netflix’s recent push into party games.
Through the move, Amazon is targeting casual gamers who don’t own PCs or gaming consoles. The strategy signals a change in direction after years of unsuccessful investment in developing original games.
Bezos is also reportedly pushing an AI overhaul of Prime Video.
