Bezos overtakes Musk as richest person on planet

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos regained his status as the world’s richest person on Monday, dethroning Elon Musk for the first time in over nine months after a turbulent day in the markets, per Bloomberg.

Bezos’ net worth stands at $200 billion, while Musk trails behind closely at $198 billion.

The resurgence is credited to Amazon’s meteoric rise in the stock market, riding a consistent wave of success. Yesterday marked his return to the summit of wealth dominance, a position he last held in 2021.

Even after offloading $8.5 billion worth of Amazon shares, Bezos remains the undisputed heavyweight in the company.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk faces mounting hurdles as a Delaware judge struck down his $55 billion compensation package at Tesla.

Over the past year, Musk has seen a loss of about $31 billion, while Bezos has gained $23 billion.
