President Joe Biden warned Israel on Wednesday that the United States would halt shipments of offensive weapons, including bombs and munitions if the country were to launch a full-scale invasion into the Gaza city of Rafah.
He clarified that the US will continue to send defensive weapons, such as the Iron Dome missile system, to protect against incoming threats.
Biden’s stark remarks come after the White House acknowledged that it recently suspended arms shipment to Israel to prevent the use of American weapons in Rafah.
The warning also follows escalating tensions in the region, with Israeli forces reportedly poised for further operations, despite repeated cautionary messages from Washington.
Currently, over 1.4 million people are seeking refuge in Rafah. It is believed to be the last major stronghold for Hamas militants.
