Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, ‘The IDF will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed’|@netanyahu|X
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected President Donald Trump’s 15-point plan for a permanent peace in Gaza, creating a rare public split between the two leaders.
The proposal calls for Hamas to surrender its weapons as Israel gradually withdraws its troops.
Netanyahu said, “The IDF will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed.”
The plan also calls for an international stabilization force and a Palestinian technocratic committee to govern Gaza.
Netanyahu faces pressure from Washington to support the agreement, but his right-wing coalition partners strongly oppose it. He also faces a difficult election later this year.
Trump’s administration has called the agreement a major foreign-policy achievement. However, the growing disagreements now threaten the plan.
Additionally, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis said they attacked Saudi Aramco’s Jazan refinery with a drone Sunday, triggering a fire that Saudi authorities quickly extinguished without injuries.
The refinery can process 400,000 barrels of crude daily. The attack came two days after Saudi Arabia signed a defense pact with Turkey and Pakistan.
