President Donald Trump told CBS’s 60 Minutes he plans to “be involved” in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption trial “to help him out a little bit.”

Calling Netanyahu a “very talented guy,” Trump said Israel’s longest-serving leader is being treated mistreated

Netanyahu is standing trial on three cases—bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. He’s accused of accepting $200,000 worth of luxury gifts, including cigars, champagne, and jewelry, from wealthy businessmen.

Prosecutors allege that he granted regulatory favors worth hundreds of millions of dollars to a telecom mogul in exchange for favorable media coverage.

The trial, which began in 2020, has been delayed several times as Netanyahu’s legal team seeks postponements.

Trump’s deepening role in Israel
Trump has previously intervened in Israel’s politics. He urged a pardon for Netanyahu during an Israeli parliament address and posted on Truth Social that the trial should be dropped.

In the same interview, Trump claimed the Gaza ceasefire remains “solid” and confirmed Hamas returned the bodies of three Israeli hostages, including US-Israeli Omer Neutra.
