President Donald Trump has threatened to block Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier from selling jets in the US unless the company expands production on American soil.
Trump made the warning Monday as trade tensions between Washington and Ottawa intensified. He did not explain how his administration would stop Bombardier from delivering aircraft to US customers, raising questions about how such a ban could work.
Industry experts also question whether such a ban would be practical.
Bombardier already has a significant presence in the United States. The company employs about 3,500 Americans, works with roughly 2,800 US suppliers and operates manufacturing and service facilities across the country. It also builds wings for its Global 8000 aircraft in Texas.

The threat came as Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on $20 billion worth of US goods took effect on Tuesday. It has imposed duties of up to 50% on products including steel, aluminum, appliances, construction materials and agricultural goods.
