The Birkin bag of gyms, Equinox, has partnered with lab-test startup Function Health to launch a $40,000-a-year program aimed at enhancing its members’ longevity, reported CNBC.

The price doesn't include the $500 a month, or $6,000/year, membership at the luxury workout space.

Notably, the program’s price is equivalent to 67% of the average American’s annual salary, at $59,384 in 2023.

So, who signs up for such memberships?
A survey last year showed that 46% of people making over $250,000 annually, plan to spend a majority of their discretionary income on health and wellness, according to Fortune.

The longevity economy reached $5.2 billion in investments in 2021.

The “Optimize by Equinox” personal health program comes with detailed medical testing, personalized fitness training, nutrition planning, and other wellness services, including consultations with sleep therapists and masseuses.

Members undergo two lab panels and fitness tests annually, focusing on 100 biomarkers and physical capabilities.

Initially, the program will be available in New York City and Highland Park, Texas, starting at the end of May.
