More than 1 billion adolescents and young adults around the world could be at risk of hearing loss from exposure to unsafe listening practices, says study|Life On Set Series|via Giphy

If you are between 12 and 35 and listen to music at high a volume, you may be at risk of losing your hearing, per a recent study published in BMJ Journal.

Young people mostly use devices like smartphones and hang out way more often at bars where music is always loud. Researchers say, “damage from unsafe listening can compound over the life course, and noise exposure earlier in life may make individuals more vulnerable to age-related hearing loss.”

The scientists analyzed studies from 2000 to 2021—33 in total—and concluded, “0.67–1.35 billion adolescents and young adults worldwide could be at risk of hearing loss from exposure to unsafe listening practices.”
