Monkeypox infections surpass 20,000 in the US|Source: CDC

Monkeypox infections in the country, as of Wednesday, have crossed 20,000—the most number of cases in any country—per a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report.

California is leading in the number of cases with 4,140 reported infections, closely followed by New York, with 3,542 cases. Other states reporting the highest number of cases include Texas, Florida, Georgia and Illinois.

According to the World Health Organization, reports of new monkeypox cases around the world have seen a decline of 25% last week compared to the week before that.
