AI usage growth is heavily concentrated in knowledge-based sectors like tech, IT, finance, and professional services
AI use in the workforce is rapidly increasing, according to a recent Gallup poll. The number of Americans using the tech at least “a few times a year” at work jumped from 40% in the second quarter to 45% in Q3.
While daily use jumped from 8% to 10%, frequent use, defined as multiple times a week, rose from 19% to 23% around the same period.
Usage growth is heavily concentrated in knowledge-based sectors such as tech, IT, finance, and professional services. For instance, 76% of tech workers utilize AI, compared to just 33% in retail.
Around 37% of workers report that their employers have officially implemented the technology as of the third quarter.
At the same time, nearly 25% of the workforce is unaware of their company’s AI status. This suggests many are likely using artificial intelligence tools without official guidance.
Overall, the data indicates AI’s presence across several sectors. However, its expansion across the broader workforce depends heavily on company policies and strategic integration.
