The California Fast Food Workers Union aims to improve worker wages|@fightfor15|X

Hundreds of fast-food workers in California joined the newly formed California Fast Food Workers Union (CFFWU) over the weekend, marking the first such union in the industry’s history.

Workers from McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Jack in the Box, Carl’s Jr., Subway, and more have joined the union, according to the affiliated Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

It aims to build on previous organizing efforts, including the Fight for $15 campaign, to improve wages and working conditions in fast-food restaurants. It also wants to protect workers from unjust firings and ensure the allocation of adequate working hours for them to earn livable wages.

The CFFWU requires members to pay a $20 monthly fee for resources and support.

Recently, California legislation established a fast-food council that negotiated a minimum wage increase to $20 an hour by April. The move could affect menu prices in fast-food chains.
