New Jersey train service is expected to resume at midnight on Tuesday after a tentative agreement was reached between New Jersey Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen union.

It was the first statewide strike in over 40 years.

On Monday, the agency will use its contingency plan, deploying chartered buses from four locations to New York City or PATH train stations, said NJ Transit CEO Kris Kolluri.
