Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued US drugmaker Eli Lilly on Tuesday, accusing it of bribing medical providers to prescribe its top-selling drugs, including weight-loss medications Mounjaro and Zepbound.

Paxton alleged the company ran an illegal kickback scheme that compromised medical decision-making.

The lawsuit builds on Paxton’s previous actions against drugmakers for fraud and abuse.

Last year, he sued insulin manufacturers, including Lilly, for allegedly inflating prices and paying pharmacy benefit managers for preferential treatment.

Lilly called the claims baseless, saying they came from a whistleblower whose allegations had been dismissed by multiple courts and the federal government.
