Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte filed a new criminal referral against Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, alleging mortgage fraud involving a $361,000 Cambridge condo.

Pulte’s letter to US Attorney General Pam Bondi follows an earlier referral over properties in Michigan and Georgia, where Cook allegedly misrepresented residences to secure favorable loan terms in 2021.

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump attempted to remove Cook from her central bank position, citing the same mortgage allegations.

In response, Cook has filed a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s authority to fire Fed governors. Her lawyers say the evidence is baseless and suggested the discrepancies in mortgage records could be a “clerical error.”

Cook is also seeking a temporary restraining order, with a hearing set for Friday.
