US stock markets rallied on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing at record highs following comments from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that a US-Iran agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could come “today or tomorrow.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered similar comments.

Strong corporate earnings and optimism around artificial intelligence also lifted investor confidence.
