ABC accused the FCC of threatening to “chill critical protected speech” through its scrutiny of The View and whether the talk show should be subject to equal-time rules when interviewing politicians.
The petition adds to an ongoing dispute between the agency and Disney, ABC’s parent company.
According to the FCC, it is reviewing ABC’s claim that the program qualifies for a news exemption.
