Anchor Anderson Cooper will leave CBS News’ 60 Minutes after this season, ending nearly 20 years on the popular program.
The 58-year-old journalist said he chose not to renew his contract with CBS so he could spend more time with his young children.
He joined the program in 2006 through a deal with CNN, where he has worked since 2001. He will continue anchoring Anderson Cooper 360 and The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper, and produce his podcast.
His exit also comes as CBS News undergoes changes following Skydance Media’s acquisition of Paramount Global, CBS’s parent company.
Bari Weiss now leads the newsroom and has introduced a new strategy after layoffs and internal tensions.
