Paramount says the delay affects employees and slows planned investments in content and production

Paramount Skydance has asked a federal judge to require a California-led coalition of 12 states that is suing to block its $110 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery to post a $1.9 billion bond.

The group’s antitrust lawsuit has put the brakes on the movie studio’s acquisition of WBD.

Taking a hard line in the litigation, Paramount is asking the court to make the states post a bond to cover the hefty costs it will incur from delaying the deal. The funds would go to the company if it prevails.

The studio could owe WBD shareholders about $650 million for every quarter the deal remains unfinished after September 30.

Paramount says the delay also affects employees and slows planned investments in content and production. The judge will decide whether a bond is required and how much it should be.
