Taylor Swift dropped her new album, Life of a Showgirl, today, collaborating with long-time Swedish music producer Max Martin, who is behind most of her chart-toppers in the 2010s.
Swift was six years into releasing albums before her first Hot 100 No. 1, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which was produced with Max Martin and Shellback. The hit helped elevate her transition from country music to pop.
His collaborations with Swift on albums like Red, 1989 and Reputation produced some of her most popular songs, with nearly 70% of these tracks surpassing 500 million Spotify streams.
Martin is known for his meticulous approach to music and ability to collaborate with creative partners who keep his work fresh. He has 27 Hot 100 No. 1s to his name, second only to The Beatles’ Paul McCartney.
Some of his collaborative hits since the 1990s include Britney Spears’s “Baby One More Time”, the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Since You’ve Been Gone,” and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”
Industry experts say expectations are high for Swift’s new album with Martin, as the duo have generated hits every time they have collaborated.
