The Universal Music Group is willing to pay $1 billion to acquire British rock band Queen’s body of work from Disney Music Group, making it the priciest deal ever to buy music.

According to sources, who spoke to CNN, talks are underway and the acquisition is “expected to close within one month.”

But Disney Music Group spokesperson said they have no plans to sell the iconic Freddie Mercury band’s music rights.

Currently, singer Bruce Springsteen holds the record for the highest sum paid. His song catalog sold for nearly $500 million in 2021. Bob Dylan comes in second, who got $300 million for his music publishing.
