White noise podcasts designed to aid sleep and concentration, have taken away $38 million annual gross profit from Spotify

The overwhelming popularity of listening to white noise podcasts every day has become a go-to choice accumulating 3 million daily consumption hours impacting Spotify’s revenue, reports Bloomberg.

These ambient soundscapes, designed to aid sleep and concentration, have taken away $38 million annual gross profit from the music streaming giant.

Meanwhile, white noise podcast creators are reaping the rewards of this trend by making almost $18,000 per month.

Spotify is not happy and is considering halting these podcasts.

White noise podcasts are a soothing blend of ambient sounds featuring rainfall, ocean waves, vacuum and other calming auditory textures.
