One of the UK’s top music gatherings, Wireless Festival, has been canceled this year following the government’s decision to block headliner Ye, formerly Kanye West, from entering the country.
The festival was facing heat for signing on Ye, who has received mass public and political backlash for his past antisemitic comments and pro-Nazi remarks. Wireless organizers claimed that no one raised initial concerns during the booking of the American rapper.
Top sponsors like Pepsi, PayPal, Diageo, and Rockstar Energy had already either dropped out or distanced themselves from the event this week. It was announced that refunds would be issued to all ticket holders.
