Gearing up for reelection, President Joe Biden presented America’s economic achievements under his presidency during the State of the Union address last night.

He credited his administration for a booming economy despite ongoing challenges, stating that America’s economy “is the envy of the world.”

Let’s dig in
Biden discussed taxes, foreign policy and reproductive rights, criticizing Republicans for not supporting a bipartisan border security bill and indirectly questioning former President Donald Trump for his perceived deference to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Addressing inflation and rising prices, Biden promised to combat corporate price gouging and deceptive practices to ease financial strains on families. He vowed to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations, funneling funds into healthcare and education.

On the job front, Biden celebrated sustained low unemployment rates, crediting his government’s policies for job growth, even during the pandemic-induced economic downturn.

He also highlighted Latorya Beasley’s IVF treatment halt due to a court ruling and condemned Texas’ abortion restrictions.

Not all were convinced
Pro-Palestinian protestors blocked DC streets during Biden’s address. They disrupted traffic near the White House and US Capitol demanding a shift in US support for Israel. Several wore t-shirts printed with the words, “Biden’s legacy equals genocide.”

Senator Katie Britt criticized the Biden administration for struggles faced by families, particularly with escalating mortgage rates and childcare costs.
