On Saturday, the Senate passed a vote to debate the 940-page tax and spending mega bill

As President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” advances in the Senate that he wants to be passed before July 4, Elon Musk renewed his attacks on the same in a series of posts in X.

He called the tax bill “utterly insane and destructive” to American jobs.

The legislation builds upon Trump’s cuts from 2017 while also introducing new ones. It would increase spending on immigration enforcement and defense and scale back Medicaid. Additionally, it would raise taxes on clean energy sectors, such as solar, battery, wind, geothermal, and nuclear.

Musk claims that cutting tax credits for renewable energy would not only raise electricity prices but would also negatively impact the electricity grid.

The bill would also cut the $7,500 consumer tax credit for EVs by September 30.

What went down?
On Saturday, the Senate passed a vote to debate the 940-page tax and spending mega bill this week.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO posted on X the same day stating, “The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs,” and warned it would be a “political suicide for the Republican Party.”

What to expect?
A vote on the bill could occur as early as today, following a vote-a-rama during which dozens of potential amendments may be considered.
