The bill, already passed by the Senate, now awaits President Donald Trump’s signature

The House on Friday approved President Donald Trump’s plan to cut $9 billion in government spending, narrowly passing the measure in a 216–213 vote. The Senate had already passed the bill, and it now heads to Trump for his signature.

The plan eliminates $1.1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports local TV and radio stations such as PBS and NPR.

It also slashes nearly $8 billion from foreign aid programs that provide food, water, shelter, and disaster relief to people in poor countries.

Republicans argue the cuts are necessary to control government spending. However, Democrats warn the reductions could harm local communities and weaken US global leadership.

Meanwhile, the White House has signaled that more spending cuts may follow soon.
