President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” is shrinking as the Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that several GOP-backed provisions don’t qualify for budget reconciliation.
The bill aims to extend President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, eliminate taxes on tips and overtime, and boost border and defense spending—offset in part by Medicaid cuts.
But measures like barring food aid for undocumented immigrants and defunding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have been struck down.
One key provision that survived was withholding broadband funds from states regulating AI.
Senate Republicans won’t challenge the ruling, hoping to vote soon and send the revised bill to Trump’s desk before July 4.
