A TikTok page featuring AI parody videos of Love Island, starring anthropomorphized fruits as contestants, amassed a record 2.3 million followers in just four days this month.

However, the show, called Fruit Love Island, has been removed from the platform along with the Ai Cinema account, which was created earlier this month and rapidly went viral.

It is not clear whether it had permission from the original reality series Love Island, which has human contestants.

At its peak, the AI-generated series averaged a staggering 15 million views per video. Several fans even took to social media, rooting for characters like Mangella and Kiwilo.

While the virality shows viewers’ interest in nonsensical AI slop mini dramas, its sudden disappearance has critics happy. Many argue that generative content is oversaturating social feeds and devaluing human artistry.

Despite the original account’s demise, the genre is resilient. Numerous knockoffs, such as Too Fruity To Handle and Candy Love Island, are already sprouting up online. These AI videos are persistent, and social media platforms are struggling to regulate them.
