President Donald Trump said Sunday that US investors could soon secure a deal to keep TikTok running in the country. He named Fox Media moguls Rupert Murdoch, son Lachlan, and Michael Dell as potential buyers.

While the terms remain unclear, including price and leadership, Trump told Fox News that Dell is involved and the Murdochs are “probably going to be in the group.”

The development is striking, as Trump is currently suing Rupert Murdoch over Wall Street Journal coverage of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Congress passed a bipartisan bill last year to ban TikTok unless its Chinese owner, ByteDance, divests. It cited national security concerns.

Trump froze that ban after taking office and extended it despite pushback. Recently, he said China approved a deal, and the White House expects a signing soon.
