The Michigan Wolverines won the NCAA men’s basketball title on Monday with a 69-63 win over the UConn Huskies, signaling a new era in college basketball.

The Wolverines, under coach Dusty May, rebuilt their entire roster in one offseason and secured their first title since 1989. They spent nearly $10 million through NIL deals and the transfer portal to form a powerhouse squad.

Elliot Cadeau led with 19 points, while Yaxel Lendeborg added 13 despite a knee sprain. Seven-foot-three center Aday Mara controlled the paint with strong scoring and rim protection.

Michigan also shut down UConn’s key scorer Tarris Reed, limiting him to 4-of-12 shooting.

Overall, UConn shot just 31%, its worst of the tournament.
