Inching closer to sci-fi reality, Palo Alto-based 1X Technologies has unveiled Neo, a humanoid household robot available for preorder at $20,000 or through a $ 499-per-month subscription.

The AI and robotics company claims it is the “world’s first consumer-ready humanoid robot.”

Neo is designed to assist with daily chores such as cleaning, taking out trash, and watering plants. It can be controlled with voice commands or a mobile app.

Standing at 5 feet 6 inches, it has a 4-hour battery life and can carry up to 55 pounds. It is also equipped with microphones, speakers, and fisheye cameras. It comes with a washable knit suit and customizable shoes.

Neo has three modes that help with household tasks and acts as an AI assistant that can remember objects, suggest meals, teach languages, and locate misplaced items.

For complex movement tasks like cleaning and vacuuming, a 1X employee will remotely assist Neo by viewing its cameras.

While companies like Tesla and Figure AI are developing humanoid robots like Optimus and Figure 03, respectively, Neo is the first available for consumer purchase. Deliveries are expected in 2026, with buyers receiving a three-year warranty.
