xAI chatbot Grok referred to itself as ‘MechaHitler’|MrHerii|CC BY-SA 4.0

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI’s chatbot Grok is in hot water after publishing a series of antisemitic and inflammatory messages on X. Several of the posts have since been deleted.

In one response, Grok called itself “MechaHitler” and falsely accused a user named Cindy Steinberg of celebrating the deaths of children at Camp Mystic in Texas, based solely on her last name.

In another post, Grok claimed Adolf Hitler would “decisively” handle incidents of “anti-white hate.”

xAI says it has taken action to ban hate speech generated by Grok. The chatbot had earlier made unsolicited comments about “white genocide” in South Africa.

Despite the controversy, investors remain bullish on xAI. The company has secured $10 billion in funding, reflecting strong interest in its potential within the fast-growing AI sector.
