OpenAI plans to launch an AI-powered web browser within weeks, aiming to challenge Google Chrome’s dominance, reports Reuters.

The new browser, built on Google’s Chromium code, may also use AI agents to automate online tasks for users. It will keep some user interactions within a ChatGPT-like interface and could offer OpenAI valuable user data—crucial for targeted advertising.

Chrome, used by over 3 billion people, is key to Google’s ad business, which generates nearly 75% of Alphabet’s revenue by collecting user data for ad targeting.
