Amazon invests additional $25B in Anthropic to scale AI

E-commerce and tech giant Amazon is investing up to $25 billion in Claude bot maker Anthropic, expanding its artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Amazon has already invested $8 billion in Anthropic over the past few years, and the new financial commitments further expand that investment. It includes an initial $5 billion, with more tied to milestones.

Anthropic said on Monday that it will spend over $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over 10 years, using Trainium chips to power its Claude AI models. It has secured up to 5 gigawatts of capacity to scale operations.

CEO Andy Jassy said the partnership highlights Amazon’s progress in custom AI chips.

Rising demand for AI tools has strained infrastructure, prompting data center expansion.
